Senior Product Design Engineer

To support the continued growth and innovation within the business, we are now actively looking to recruit a Senior Product Design Engineer to join our NPD & NPI team at Fathom3.
- Design innovative and effective solutions to a range of problems and opportunities in new product development projects.

- Join a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, working closely with other designers, researchers, engineers and product managers.
- Apply your design and problem solving skills to deliver innovative product solutions and experiences that challenge the norm and exceed customer expectations.
- Deliver compelling aesthetic designs that align with the business’ brand language.
- Communicate ideas quickly and effectively showing proficiency in a combination of sketching, CAD, and visual presentations.
- Work closely with the FEA team where appropriate to evaluate and iterate engineering solutions.
- Work closely with the prototyping and test team to design and build prototypes to demonstrate and evaluate ideas.
- Establish component tolerances in accordance with manufacturing capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with senior team members, providing crucial support to ensure timely and successful project deliveries.
- Research and identify optimal materials for design projects, considering factors such as functionality, cost, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate closely within multi-disciplinary teams to leverage diverse expertise, foster efficient communication, and enhance cross-functional synergy.
- Participate in the company’s tooling processes to facilitate DFM or component trials (may require overseas travel to the Far East).
- Drive excellence, collaboration and pioneering spirit and possess a growth mindset.
What we would like you to Bring to the Team
Must-haves:
- A degree in Product Design or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ design experience.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, focussed on excellence.
- Autodesk Inventor or alternative 3D CAD software.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment.
Nice to haves:
- Understanding of the methodology of Design Thinking and User-Centred design.
- Understanding of key design principles for injection moulded and extruded plastic components.
- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator.
- Understanding the uses of FEA.
- Familiarity with DFM and DFA processes.
